The Quartetto Italiano is regarded as one of the finest string quartets of the twentieth century. The ensemble’s repertory was broad, and they recorded a great deal in the studio, which makes these rare live performances from 1965 all the more valuable. Performed in the Royal Festival Hall and recorded by the BBC, they are in excellent stereo sound and issued here on CD for the very first time.
